Kindergarten - Frosty Comes to town.

So this project had a little more relevance when Friday's class completed it, since it was so cold outside. Today, as it was a beautiful 75 degrees in Wilmington, it seemed quite strange to make snowmen... but we forged on. :)

I wanted to teach the kids an introduction to drawing three dimensionally... quite a big concept for kindergarten, but when broken down, they can get it!
We looked at a sphere and noticed how the areas with light hitting it are lighter, and the areas without light, have a darker shadow.

We traced various plates and paint cup lids to form the 3 different sized circles.

We used oil pastels to add light and dark shading to either side of our snowmen.

We then added hats, buttons, eyes and a  mouth!

Here are a few completed lovely snowmen!
