3rd & 4th grade classes are currently between clay firing and glazing, so while we wait on the kiln, here is our one-day project.
Watercolor sun catchers!
We started with a coffee filter
Folded it in half, then in thirds.
We used liquid watercolor paint to color the coffee filters.
The great thing about coffee filters is that the paper diffuses the paint, spreading it out and allowing the paint to soak through all layers.
We made sure to fill the entire space with paint.
We flipped them over every so often to be sure that the paint was soaking through.
We then opened them up to reveal the beautiful design!
We talked about radial symmetry and color patterns as well!
We hung a clothes line up in the Art room to allow our creations to dry.
They look so bright and colorful hanging, I might leave them up for a few days!
