Middle School - Singletary Lake Retreat

The annual Rules Process Retreat at Singletary Lake is one of my favorite Friends School traditions! I love watching our Middle School students treat each other with such respect as they listen to each other and work together to create the rules that will be followed throughout the school year.

I wanted to extend this theme of collaboration to the art project created on the trip. This year each student was given 1/4 of a circle and used oil pastels and watercolors to create warm and cool colored designs.

Warm colors were used for the inside of the circles, and cool colors for the outside.

The oil pastels created a "resist" effect when painted over with watercolors.

Thanks to our "sophisticated" 8th graders for doing the layout and hanging the artwork!

Our hallway is so bright and cheery with these hanging up!
