1st & 2nd - Bits & Pieces Found Object Portraits

Along with a collection of odds and ends found around the art room, students brought in found objects from home - fabric, beads, bottle caps etc. to create these darling portraits. 

















I love seeing everyone's personalities shine through in these!

We checked out artwork fron American artist Jim Dine, noted the blending and abstraction of color, and then made these beauties!

5th Grade - still life drawings


Here is what 5th grade has been up to - 


Still life drawings, focusing on drawing three dimensionally. 

After an initial class of learning drawing techniques while looking at one object, I set up a collection of items and invited students to bring in an item from home to add to our still life - some even wanted to draw their shoes, which was also great! Everyone set around the large table, finding an angle they found most interesting. 



We began in pencil, moved to charcoal ( oh how fun!) and then added color and shading with chalk pastels.


We used a viewfinder technique to isolate the areas of interest - each artist had to include at least 3 items in their picture.
