Kindergarten - Nature Drawings

After our recent ice storm, it was such a gift to have nice weather earlier this week!
Monday's Kindergarten class went outside for some nature drawings.

We took our sketchbooks outside, along with our new favorite material - watercolor crayons.

Students observed nature items around our school, first drawing in pencil, then outlining in Sharpie, and then adding color with the watercolor crayons.

5th Grade - Keith Haring Figures

5th Grade continues to work on Keith Haring figures... just a bit larger now!

Everyone selected one drawing to enlarge on mat board.  Emphasis on showing movement!
We used X-acto knives to CAREFULLY cut them out - after a tutorial and safety talk, we had no injuries, phew!

Peer collaboration - oh yeah!!

Using the primary colors + green, we painted the figures.

We are getting quite attached to out little pals.

:)

After Spring Break we will be taking all of the figures
and attaching them into a collaborative sculpture.
Can't wait to see how they turn out!

Kindergarten - Sweet little birds!

Last week, Kinder classes experimented with mixing primary watercolors to make secondary colors.
We also painted black circles on paper to make the bodies of our birdies.

This week, we read "Little Blue and Little Yellow" by Leo Lionni - one of my favorites.
Simple, Clear, Adorable

Using Sharpies, we made little birdie faces and little birdie legs.

This time, we used watercolor crayons for more precise coloring.

Here are a few more -
